Deepak was a young and troubled youth that was headed for destruction and death. A former gang leader and drug addict, he committed the most horrendous crimes. At the age of seven years old, he witnessed his parents as well as brothers and sisters being killed in a bomb blast during the Hindu-Muslim Riots. Having to survive on his own, he quickly became the prey of a wicked man who gave him some food and shelter. This man taught him to pick-pocket and steal. Working his way up in the underworld, his crimes, addictions & money increased.By the age of fourteen, taking someone's life was a normal thing for him to do to make money. |

Eventually, everything had taken its toll on Deepak. He attempted to commit suicide several times but each time he did not die. On one occasion while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, he jumped off the Howrah Bridge into the Hoogly River to end his life. Several hours later, he woke up on the banks of the river wondering why he did not die. God had a great plan and purpose for Deepak's life. |

After spending many months praying for Deepak and sharing the gospel with him, he finally surrendered his life to Christ. He spent thirty intense days in Detox and then stayed at our home for the following ten months. Deepak (now officially named Anthony) is 23 years old and serving the Lord. He just completed a three month Bible training program at a Bible College in Bangalore and is now ministering in a nearby village to people that we could never reach ourselves. His life has so dramatically changed that all who knew him before as "Deepak" are amazed at what has happened to him. Anthony gives all the credit to Jesus for the transformation in his life. Repeatedly, you will hear Anthony say in a whisper of amazement "Jesus is so Powerful!" He truly knows the power of Jesus. |
